The action on this particular rifle is based on the original Wesson Long Range no.1. It was made for a client experienced in long range shooting, who plans to target shoot and hunt elk in Montana with it. This 45/70 has a 30 inch half-round-half-octagon barrel with a wedding band. We designed a medium weight barrel per customer request. The stock was made to fit, featuring a straight comb with tow-out. The bottom metal, internal parts, and screws are nitre blued. Al Springer of Moore, MT color cased hardened the action and slow-rust blued the barrel. The American black walnut was finished with McLaughlin’s Old World stock oil.
